All That Jazz vocal event slated for Feb. 25

On the heels of the inaugural Java & Jazz event featuring the Iowa Women’s Jazz Orchestra and the Greene County jazz band Feb. 19, the first annual All That Jazz vocal jazz festival is slated for Friday, Feb. 25, also at Greene County High School.

All That Jazz will include a a daytime vocal jazz clinic with groups from ADM, Perry, Spencer, West Des Moines Valley, Waukee Northwest, Spirit Lake, Des Moines Roosevelt and Council Bluffs Jefferson performing 40-minute sets. Clinicians will be jazz pianist, arranger and singer Justin Binek of Kansas City and jazz vocalist Jennifer Parker of Minneapolis.

The day will finish with a 7 pm concert by the Greene County jazz choir Ram Jive, followed by a performance by Binek and Parker. “These two are giants in the vocal jazz field and we are so fortunate to have them in town,” Greene County vocal music director Dave Heupel said.

The public is invited to attend the evening concert. There will be a $5 admission fee.
